What is ADR good for

I have been reading a lot about ADR on this forum and through various websites. But I am really that knowledgeable about backs to begin with all I know is something is not right. I have DDD which is basically my discs erode alot more rapidly then they should. So anyway to my question I thought that when the discs are replaced the nerve is no longer under pressure so the leg pain is gone, yet the website I looked at said it does not treat/help leg pain. So now I am confused. Can someone explain this to me

take care

Re: What is ADR good for

I also remember reading somewhere that ADR was good for back pain, but not for those with leg pain. Sorry that's all I remember seeing. I've had 2 fusions so I'm not eligible for an ADR, I just remember coming across this info while researching for myself.
I wish I could answer your questions for you, but maybe someone will come along that can.

Re: What is ADR good for

From what I understand, the can replace the disc, which takes the pressure off of the nerve, but they can't guarantee that the pain will leave or that the nerve is not damaged. It can stop further damage.

My doc and I were kidding around today about pain and how we would be the richest people on earth if we could figure out how to cure pain.

They can physically change how your body is set up with surgery, replace parts, take parts out, etc, but when it comes to nerve pain, no one really understands it yet.

When I first saw my doctor, he said, "Oh, good, at least it is not leg pain, or sciatica because there is no cure for that".

take care,

Re: What is ADR good for

I have had three level Prodisc ADR at L3-4, L4-5, and L5-S1 in Oct. 2004. All back and leg pain is gone. It was gone in the recovery room. ADR is the future, and the future is here. Check out my other postings on ADR clinical trials.

Best of luck.
