well its been 10 days now.i had a rupture at S1,L5.before the surgery my right leg was numb and i had alot of lower back pain, with the feeling that i had a softball or large object in my back when i stood .after surgery my leg was not numb but hurt like crazy every where it was numb, but my leg has got alot better still a little leg pain.but???MY BACK still hurts and i still have the same feeling like there is a large object in my lower back when i stand if i sit it jus hurts no softball in back if i lay down i must lie on my side with a pillow between my legs.i hope this gets better. follow up visit in 6 days, but so far this surgery has been a great help for my leg but my back is still hurting just as bad and the same way it was before.
Yea, you have a few weeks yet. Just do as the discharge instructions indicated. Walk as much as you can. It takes a good 4-8 weeks to feel back to good.
Take care of yourself and follow your doc's instructions exactly! Use lots of ice to help bring the inflammation down, and as TxHunni said walking will help. Keep us posted!
Tracer, I am glad to see your leg is doing better. Your pain in your back is very normal. As Hunni said, you are only ten days post op so give it some time. I am five months post op and my back actually hurts more than before the surgery but it takes an incision alot of time to fully heal. Hang in there and keep walking.
Tracer, I am glad you are back from surgery but sorry that you still have pain. As others have already said...give it time. I know it's not what we want to hear but I am thinking that w/in a few weeks, you will be able to see a difference.
10 days post with some relief alredy is a good start to a full recovery. Hang in there and do as otehrs have said - adhere to your drs instructions to a "T". So often you read of people doing to much to soon and then paying the price. If in doubt dont do it. Well done and good luck
i guess 10 days is realy not a long time in fusion time, so i guess you should do what the others and the dr tell you, i know i will, but good luck and god speed , keep us updated.
well, do as instructed and do give yourself time to heal. There is no guarantee, but hopefully you will have good results. I don't have anything to add really, but wish you the best and hope you start seeing more improvements soon!
I live alone so after 6 days in the hospital I went to rehab for 2.5 weeks. By the time I went home I could get around. Anytime I could get someone to drive me to a store I would grab a shopping cart and be off!
