Could be a nerve impulse, and it might go away within a month or two.
I had something like this recently on my inner thigh - it would itch quite often for no reason (there was nothing on the skin like a rash or mark), and this started out of nowhere.
I went to my dermatologist for something else, and he looked at the area and said it's probably a nerve acting up - said there's a nerve that goes through the groin area and comes ``out'' about there.
Anyway, the worst of the itching lasted about 6 weeks, and gradually it became less and less frequent, and then one day it was gone completely.
Hopefully that's what this is, and it will go away.
