scoliosis & breathing problems

Anyone have a scoliosis problem (fairly minor, but getting worse) and also having lung capacity issues? I've read a bit about this, but haven't been to a doc about my back since 91 (besides a chiropractor last seen in 93). As I have no insurance.....

Was hoping someone had some insight. Was thinking about joining the YMCA, and would love to swim for my back's health, but hate to get into a swim suit. Ya know?

Also just applied for basic health through the state (sliding scale insurance)....and keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: scoliosis & breathing problems

Hi there,
I know it's difficult with no insurance but you really need to get yourself into see a good orthopedic surgeon. My understanding of scoliosis is that when you start having breathing problems is because the curvature is quite defined and is pushing on your lungs. If this has already started you really need to see a doctor and have an MRI to determine the degee. Take care of yourself and please keep me updated. Kristy.
