Hi Ho, Its Back to work I go!

Hi folks,

I start back to work tomorrow (or am attempting it) and am a bit nervous... I don't want to be a wuss, but a "normal" day for me up til now has been pretty restfull (READ: "LAZY). I hope I can make it. Also, I'm realizing I am a flake... Look at all my typos and spellings issues?!?!?! This will NOT fly at work. I will also have to make it on just the oxycontin tomorrow until I get home (working 8-11 or noon only). No narcotics (ok, I realize oxy is a narcotic, but its long release, I won't be able to take anything like a Tylonol 3 or perc if the pain is bad because I'll be driving). I know that doesn't seem like a long time, and I know I can say its too early, but I DON"T want to let everyone down either... UUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHH

Advice?? Just grin and bear it ??? (bare? See - flake!!)

I hope all goes well for you. I'm sure you will do fine. Just don't overdo it. Take lots of breaks. If it turns out you can't do it, then you know you tried your best.
Good luck,
Memaw

Lots of luck tomorrow! Make sure you get up every 30-45 minutes to walk around and stretch. I know it'll go well for you- you can do it!

Re: Hi Ho, Its Back to work I go!

While at work, be *in the moment*. Pay close attention to your body and what it is telling you. The people at work realize that you have had surgery and they will want to help out. Don't make the same mistake that my husband did. He went back as if nothing happened and then they expected it from him. When he asked to cut back when his neck was not up to par, they didn't let him. Better to go in and step lightly and work up to just short of what is comfortable and not overdo. If you overdo, they will think that that is your norm.

Less is better,

I wish you well tomorrow. I am sure you will be fine. You know your body...listen to it. Like someone else has said, get up every 30 min. even if it's to walk down the hall. I think just knowing tha you can stop if necessary, should ease your mind. Let us know how it goes.

I want to wish you all the best in the world with your first day back! Now, don't be stubborn like me and push push even if you hurt. Okay? If you do either take a break for a bit or go home and try the next day. Let me know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hi Ho, Its Back to work I go!

Good Luck... wish it were me! I lost my job through all this.

You can take up to 4000 mg of tylenol per day. If the pain gets to you, try taking some regular old tylenol to tide you over.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Hi Ho, Its Back to work I go!

Hi Honey I'm home.
Well it went ok. I got up every 30 minutes or so and left exactly at 3 hrs. I felt like I was brand new at my job again (like an idiot)

Then I came home and promptly took a nap. All in all I think I'm going to make it, except for the little issue that i'm out of my main pain pills (oxycontin), until tommorrow, (See my other message for that one) and hubby goes out of town tommorrow for 2 days- first time i'll be on my own since surgery---

OK, I can do this...

Thanks for all the support guys, you're great!

Re: Hi Ho, Its Back to work I go!

I'm glad it went well for you! Take lots of naps and don't push it too much. You'll be OK for a couple of days while your hubby is gone- think of the vacation you'll have, LOL!
