I had a similar problem that started about 1 1/2 weeks after surgery. It was my left leg and foot. It became so intolerable that I ended up in bed 20 hours a day. It was nerve damage from the surgery. It usually takes 1 to 2 weeks for the nerves to react. It can be caused by the release of the disc that was crushing the nerve or it could be caused by the doctor damaging nerves during surgery. Since I did not have any nerve compression on my left side prior to surgery, it was determined that the surgery caused my nerve damage. After 10 weeks, I finally hooked up with a great neurologist at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He prescribed neuontin and it is like a miracle drug. I am back to my old self.
