Bad weather...Worse pain?

Hi All!
This may sound crazy, but, have any of you experienced worse pain when the weather is bad. Here I am in NY, and once again the snow is coming down... I am in terrible pain. Do any of you have the same problem?
THanks
~M~

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

I am in the same boat. We live in MA and have had some crazy snow storms with fluctuating temps for the past week. I can barely move. It seems that as soon as the weather calms down and my pain settles down another storm moves in. It is snowing again today and I am in horrible pain again....at least the snow is pretty

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

it is a long standing tradition those with artithus or other general aches and pains can tell faster when a storm apporaches and or cold days that is is "more achey then normal"

i think it is a similar response animals have when they seem to be aware "something is comming or something is happening.

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

I don't put 2 and 2 together with that usually.. but my doctor and physical therapists swear by the weather affecting their patients.

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

I've always heard it was an old wives tale, but whoever said that has never suffered from arthritis!!! I know a day ahead of time if rain or cold is coming. ~~~DEBBIE~~~

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

does it have anything to do with being cold and your muscles more tense? Very interested to know if there is some sort of explanation...

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

Maybe since it's cold the blood vessels and all the circulation in your body get more tense. I am the same way. Today here in Norther California, it's cold, dreary and rainy outside and all of my symptoms are just a hair worse right now....it makes sense, everything getting all tense because you're body's trying to keep warm but by the same token it's also injured so maybe the muscles/blood vessels and everything else in there make the pain worse...maybe, I dunno...I am so the same way when it comes to bad weather though!

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

Hi there,
You are absolutely right. I have a terrible time as I live in Canada and we have had a very cold winter with a whole lot of snow. My headaches have been very steady and most have turned into migraines and my back has been really bad lately. My whole body is suffering as a result. Anyway just wanted to let you know that you are not along and it unfortunatly is true. Take care. Kristy.

Re: Bad weather...Worse pain?

I'm another one that the weather affects. Spinal stenosis, bone spurrs, degenerative discs. My pain seems to worsen on cold rainy days. I live in Ohio & the first two weeks of Jan. were miserable, cold and rainy. I seem to feel a little better when the temp. drops below freezing. I know that sounds dumb but I think the freezing must take humidity from the air.JMHO.
Maybe we all should get jobs as weather forcasters.LOL
