Hello everyone , Well it has been a whole week now since my L5-S1 post fusion, and i feel pretty good, i am little sore at the incision site , and it itiches , i am walking about a mile on the tredmill everyday, i am only taking 2 10mg oxycontine and 2 percs a day, and i dont't have very much pain. I can feel the hardware but that should go away. I have a soft brace and i where it all day execpt when i sleep. I went for a car ride yesterday with my wife for about a hour , no problems. I guess i am doing ok. I have been taking stool softener since i cam home from the hospital, but no bowel movement yet.
I just want everyone to know that fusion works and i feel 100 times better since the fusion, My pain mgt doc is the best in the world. I am so happy and blessed that i have come to know you guys.
I am so happy for you!!!!!!! Isn't it a great feeling to know something so major is working? Sounds like you are doing well with healing too. Don't push things though, but you don't need me to tell you that. I have more localized pain now to the sides of my incision near the hardware and am beginning to worry that I am sitting wrong and bothering it. I don't know.. Well, enough of me-SO HAPPY FOR YOU!
That gives me so much hope. I am scheduled for a 2 level fusion next Tuesday. I'll get the screws put to me at L4-5 and L5-S1. I hope I am doing as well as you one week post op
Stidw, I'm glad to hear you are doing well! Remember to take it slow- but I'm sure you know that, esp. from reading about the rest of us who have pushed it too much! I'm impressed that you could ride in a car for an hour yesterday- wow! Keep us updated!
