stress and pain

do you guys get increased pain when you are stressed? We still don't know if we are going to be able to move into our condo today and are in a pile of crap right now and we have no control or rights. I am so angry at so many people right now I don't know what to do, and the list of people making me mad just keeps getting longer and longer and I am just sick of this. THis is not OUR fault, yet we pay for it. WE have NO legal rights and that in it's own isn't right. I can't relax at all and I am at a loss. No amount of pain meds are helping me right now and I am already emotionally, physically and mentally drained.

Re: stress and pain

mel, I have been experimenting with pain meds, Xanax and muscle relaxers to see what helps me pain. If I am stressed and take a half of a Xanax, my pain level drops dramatically. This is what I have been doing the last few days for pain. I just cut back my dosage at night to make up for what I took during the day.

good luck and take a deeeeep breath

Re: stress and pain

I wish I had a xanax or valium, but I don't. My relaxers don't help and neither are my narcs. I won't be able to relax until at the earliest tonight IF things go well. If not, then the latest TUESDAY!

Re: stress and pain

Wow Mel what's got you so upset? You know that you are still early in your recovery and that being so upset can infact make your pain sky rocket!
Can you call your doc for a little something something

Re: stress and pain

funny story, I was about to move out of my apt with my wife, and it was very stressful cuz we were behind. I ended up throwing my back out a couple days before the move, so I was basically incapable of helping at all!!

My wife still teases me that I probably did it on purpose.

But basically, I agree that stress, anger, anxiety, etc all contribute to our physical feelngs much more than we realize.

Re: stress and pain

Hey Mel,
It's so funny that I read your post. I have had so much stress these past couple of weeks and I just put it together that it very well could be what is intensifying my pain. My pain has been so bad lately. To the point that all I want to do is cry, it sucks. Anyway, I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. Take care. Kristy.

Re: stress and pain

Hey there,

Mostlymy back will let me know i am stressed/ upset/ angry before I realse Iam any of those. It means amongest the other changes we have made to our lives we also need to adjust our behaviors to have a more relaxed approach to things, I look at it as a positive!

Re: stress and pain

Its a sad cycle. A good analagy is that of the chicken and the egg. what cme first???Some argue that stress causes pain while others argue that pain causes stress. Either way I get stressed when Im in pain and I get pain when Im stressed
