Hi there,
It sounds as though it could be sciatica. That is one of the things I suffer with. Have you had an MRI done? I would suggest getting one and maybe asking for a nerve test. Do you currently see a specialist? Take care and good luck. Kristy.

Hi April,
Are you having an MRI done in the near future? If so I would really demand that one be done of the upper and lower back. There's no point in having to get 2 done at different times. Was september the last time you saw the neuro? I would suggest making another appt seeing as it's still bothering you and it's been a while. Best of luck and keep me posted. Kristy.

Re: low back pain, doctor said i have sciatica

hi apriltones -

just to piggyback on previous suggestions...if the mri doesn't show that a disc is pinching your nerve, it could be the piriformis. since that muscle is so deep under the glutes, i've found targeted stretching and lying on a tennis ball to help. the best way to diagnose this after a negative mri result is to have your dr inject you w/an anesthetic at the point where the muscle meets the greater trochanter (femur @ pelvis). if you feel better, then you've figured out what's wrong. i had to do that after my mri showed NOTHING.

Good luck and cheers.
