Re: When Will I Be Up

I had the same fusion surgery....posterior with decompression.

I would say by week 3 you'll feel up to going to watch the practices (based upon how I felt at 3 weeks). You're just going to have to try it and see... if it's too much, back off for a few days and try again the following week.
Everyone heals differently...keep a positive attitude...don't push too hard and you should be ok to do whatever you set your mind to.

Re: When Will I Be Up

I had a 2 level posterior (TLIF) fusion 4 weeks ago, and I would have felt up to going to a baseball practice to watch at around 2 weeks. That is also when I went back to work (part-time) with the permission of my doctor. I think that's a little unusual though. Make sure you walk around and don't sit too much on the bleachers that are usually at those things- you'll want some support for your back when you're sitting. Good luck!

Re: When Will I Be Up

-My surgery was both front and back, and I was at the mall a week after BUT, paid for it later. Be sure you just don't push yourself through any pain you have. Make sure there is another person who can take you home and your son later if need be if you need to go home. OR, see if you can get help to lie down on the bleachers(get pillows!) I found reclining the car seat was helpful when I had been up too long. Sitting is the worst, and if you have a brace, that (from my exper.) actually at certain points makes things hurt a little more. GOod luck though and don't push yourself!
