Tingling in butt

Hello,

I've had a constant tingling in my left butt for the last three days now, this tingling is a different sensation then I usually have, what could this mean? Does tingling mean it's getting better? I have DDD in L3-L4, with central herniation, L4-L5, L5-S1 minimal DDD and bulging at L4-L5 and a Herniation at L5-S1 all with encrochment on the thecal sac. I also have L5-S1 root irritation. I usually have burning, numbness, in my butt and usually have tingling with pins and needles in my feet, just wondering if this is normal with the injured disks I have or is this a sign that I could be getting better, finallly, I only say that because I read something that said tingling is a good sign.
Thanks for any help you might have.
Take care,
Linda

Re: Tingling in butt

I often experience a similar feeling in my upper legs and calves. My dr has said that it is likely to be muscle spasm and that heat may ease the feeling

Good luck

Thanks Losy, I also have it in my legs as well, but the tingling in my butt is a new feeling, and it's a different feeling. I have my heating pad on all day, it seems to soothe the pain a bit but my back is usually so hot to the touch and so red, but it feels like I can't get it hot enough to help, so weird.
Thanks for you help
Take care,
Linda

Re: Tingling in butt

I doubt that it means things are getting better....when you have so much wrong in the lumbar area it seems to me that it signals more nerve impingement. YOu should call your spine specialist.

Re: Tingling in butt

Thanks Carol, I can't do anything right now until I see a IME, my insurance has cut all my treatment off until then, lucky I go Feb 7th. MY Neurosurgeon and PM want to do a disogram but they keep dening it, pretty frustrating since all my injuries are documented on EMG and MRI. Thanks for you info
Take care,
Linda

Re: Tingling in butt

yeah, unfort where DDD is concerned it doesn't get better, and when that has happened, the odds of the bulges healing is just as poor. Def sounds like nerve issues. Good luck with your appt, hope you get some relief before then.
