Hi,

A little history on me: I have a foramenotomy (sp) in March of 2004. It took me over 6 months to heal from that. I ended up going to see a PM doctor and he did an injection in the facet joint on my right side. I was feeling the best I have felt in a long time. January 10 I fell at work (slipped on ice) and I hit my back. Well, today I went to see my pain management doctor and he did two injections in the l4 and l5 area. I hope this works, but I can feel the same pain coming back. He said that my s1 joint was fused and it is common for that to happen on it's own.

My last appt. with my Neurosurgeon he told me that if I continued to have pain then he would have to do a fusion at l4 and l5. I am afraid to go through the procedure. If I have to have this surgery, can someone please give me some feedback on how there fusion worked.

Any feedback would be great.

Hi Judy,
Sorry to hear that you are having such a diffcult time. Have you considered physiotherapy? Right now I suffer from spondylolisthesis, sciatica, lumbar lordosis and I have a fracture at L5. I've been doing physio with accpuncture for about 1 month now. It's been bery tough and it hurts a lot but I'm starting to think that it may be helping. I think before you really consider surgery you should really exhaust all non surgical procedures. If physio doesn't work for me in the end then i will be having a fusion but I am really trying to avoid it. I think it's worth a shot, you just never know. Take care and good luck with all. Hi Kristy,

No I haven't considered acupuncture, but if this doesn't work then I will try it. I just don't want to have a fusion. I wish you the best in your recovery. Keep me posted on how it is going.
