Hi.... I had a Laminectomy/Discectomy back in June 2004... on L5-S1... and I did not have to wear a brace after surgery....My Neurologist said he finds it does more harm then good, and there is really no need for one with a surgery as simple or as simple as a Lami/Discecto is supposed to be..... I went in the hospital at 6:30 am... had surgery around 7:30 am..... stayed the rest of that day and night... went home about noon or so the next day..... went back to my Neurologist in 10 days to have stitches removed....The day I went home he told me I could take a shower....no baths for the first 2 weeks... I did not have any aid devices..... raised toilet seat... shower chair.... grabber.... etc......just had to be careful of no excessive bending or twisting... and my weight limit I could lift as my doctor put it was what a 12 pack of sodas would weigh...
