What can I expect?
Just found site. I am a newbie with questions. Work related injury covered by wc. Scheduled to have microdiskectomy L3-5 in May[seems long way out].
Will see nuero doc again early May.
Generally, how long in hosp, how much pain, how long is recovery??? Loads of questions. Anything I should be aware of or ask the doc?

Hi there and Welcome
You will probably leave the next morning. I had a discectomy in the early 90's and in 99 then it was the old fashion way and not the MICRO type. Anyway with both of those I was back at work in 2 weeks. I hope it goes well for you. The good thing about the micro is the incision is so much smaller than it use to be. You will do great. Again welcome and we are glad to have you.

Love your screen name - my hubby is a HUGE fishaholic

Your May surgery date, perhaps Dr wants to do more studies on you prior surg? or maybe you gotta great surgeon and this was purely to do his availability in the schedule?

At any rate, just wanted to welcome you to the boards.

I've never had the Micro - but you'll get loads of info from people here who have.
