Sometimes on the left side of my lower back it feels like its on fire. It only lasts like a minute. What is this?

Hi, I would get this on my lower back and it wouldn't come and go it felt like a small fire going on and it was the S1 nerve.
I had to get a EMG to find out.

do you guys have back pain alot? I have major back pain lately along with the burning. I can't exercise its depressing. Whats an EMG? If its a nerve problem can it be fixed? What causes nerve problems? I went to my doc before and she did nothing. Should I tell her to refer me to a specialist?

I have been living with back pain for almost 6yrs an EMG is a test for nerve damage.It took to long for them to find my problem and now the damage is permenant so I wouldn't wait around, the sooner the problem is found the better the recovery, I would get a referal and find out.
I had numerous MRI's and 2 discgrams ect. the mris's didn't show the cause or help find a diagnosis and the discograms shoued tears at the L4-5 and L5-S1. So know that an MRI doesn't always show the problem.
I also have problems though with my thoracic and cervical areas so that doesn't help.
Find a good dr and don't stop looking to you have a answer.
