Pain has been bad all day

Hi
My pain levels are pretty high right now about an 8. Time for the heating pad.(dont ask my dr about my pain she'll tell ya its all in my head ) Boy that really ticks me off.Lower back pain most likely symptoms of her depression. Been reading medical records again lol.Sorry just had to get that off my chest.More like depression caused by lower back pain! Yea thats it. But any way hope everyone is having less pain than me.
I was just wondering is anyone from Mi? And know of any good doctors they could refer me to?(Metro Detroit area).Looking for a new one I've had it with mine.I have been with her for about 5 years and thought we had a decent rapport but guess not.
Anyhow have a painfree evening and
Take care

Barb

Re: Pain has been bad all day

The minute a doctor tells you the pain is in your head, it is time to walk away. You are on the right track...find a new doctor. Have you had a workup at all? Any tests, MRI? Because that is the first thing that should be done when your back is causing pain.

Good luck with your search for a good, caring, spine specialist.

Re: Pain has been bad all day

Barb,

So sorry you are experiencing such rough pain today. Hate those days, and truly hate it when any doctor quickly tries to make the patient think it is totally within their head. A true sign that they have never experienced extreme pain themselves or they would not jump the gun to that conclusion.

If I recall correctly, you were prescribed medication which is typically given to repair damaged nerves, yet the doctor said you didn't have any compressed nerves. Don't believe you mentioned having a discogram or MRI, but had an EMG. May I ask if your doc is a neurologist or neurosurgeon? Sounds like a neurologist I went to while searching for my current doctor.

It seemed that you had numbness and pain across the butt and down the leg. A big indication that there is likely pressure on the sciatic nerve. I sincerely hope that you will seek another opinion regarding this pain and don't let it continue until you sustain permanent damage and numbness. As one who has experienced tons of pain and will have some numbness for the rest of my life, I wish I had known a place like this board back when it all began for me. Regardless, we owe it to ourselves to take positive action on our own and to be proactive in seeking out the best doctor we can possibly find for ourselves, especially if the one we have is not listening AND/OR hearing what we say. Much of your searching can be done on the web as there are several web sites which lists doctors by speciality and by locations. You can look at their credentials and then also check your own states web site showing licensed doctors by city or county. Of course, your own primary care doctor may also be a good source and certainly they need to know that you are suffering.

Hope you will have a better day tomorrow and can begin a plan and a search for the best doctor for you. We're here if you need someone to listen.
