| Re: Mri Terms Need Definitons
I can help with a few terms: Foraminal stenosis: affects one or more vertebrae and in a 'normal' situation, the nerve roots slip through the foramen with enough room but with age and disease, the opening may become clogged and result in nerve compression. It may not be critical but it could lead to loss of function if the nerves die. Disc dessication: also called degenerative disc disease and means, dry discs. Facet hypertrophy: enlarged facet (joints?) that can cause problems with spinal cord and nerve roots. Conjoined nerve root: a pair of unilateral nerve roots in a unique dural sleeve that leaves the spinal column through a single intervertebral foramen or at two separate levels and is prone to compression.
