If you have bone against bone, then the disc deteriorated for some reason. Is your surgeon offering you anything besides meds? You know, I think after reading your post about the oxycontin and him telling you to cut them, you would be wise to get a second opinion. It sounds like you have some nerve impingement....that would cause the burning pain in your legs.
I really think you need another work up by a different spine specialist. Either a ns or an orthopedic ss. Good luck.
