I am a 20 year old female who has been struggling with two herniated disks (L4-L5 and L5-S1) and major sciatica for the past two years. In the past I have had epidural steroid injections which have provided temporary relief. My doctor now has me scheduled for a selective nerve block, which I am kind of nervous about.
I was wondering if anyone else has had experience/ luck with a nerve block. In terms of the actual procedure (length of time, amount of pain, recovery), how different is it from an epidural steroid injection?
I have had both ESI's and a selective nerve block. None of which helped me. On the upside the selective nerve block was not any more painful than the ESI. I had sedation though, without it I cry when they poke me!
