A chiropractor is not going to "fix" a herniated disc, and can in fact make them worse.
What it sounds like is that you are suffering from nerve impingement; you need to see a spine specialist. Maybe your PCP can recommend someone.
Yes, I would call and see him and see if he will give you something to help with the pain while you wait to see the specialist. He could order an MRI to get things rolling.
In the meantime, please stay away from the chiro. He could make things much, much worse and could even cause paralysis.
