upper back and neck pain with pressure headaches

I have been having upper back problems and pressure headaches mainly on my right side for 2 years. I have had x-rays of my neck and back and an mri and ct scan of my head/sinuses. I first visited a chiropractor who told me my back pain was stemming from my neck having bone spurs and being out of place. I did not suffer from neck pain until she adjusted me and since then I have had numerous dr's say there is absolutely nothing wrong with my neck. My pressure headaches occur mainly on my right side and seem to be by my eye. I seen an eye dr. and ent dr's who seem to have no answers. I have seen back specialyst and neurologysts with still no help or answeres. Wondering if anyone thought these pains were related and what could be done to help.

Re: upper back and neck pain with pressure headaches

I get mixed messages from docs too. One says my upper back pain is from my neck, the other says NO it's from vertabrae out in my upper back. I've been going to pysical therapy & they work with a chiro who puts my vertabrae back in place & it comes right back out again.

I dont' get the headaches from this, but my neck is definitely sore, so I don't know where the problems originates, I just want someone to fix it!!!

Also, I have heard that the thoracic part of the back is the hardest to treat and most docs won't do surgery on it cause it's so close to the heart!! What I've read about it says it's a long drawn out process of pt & chiro & other treatments!

Re: upper back and neck pain with pressure headaches

Hi
My upper neck and back pain along with my headaches is due to a prolapsed disc in my thoratic spine. I have a very stiff neck that cracks alot and and my shoulders go crunch whenever I move them.
Don't know if this is any help

Re: upper back and neck pain with pressure headaches

Lee,
Is there any way to fix that problem and would an MRI show if I had the same? No one will recommend and MRI for me. Sometimes my collar bone feels as if it's going to just snap. I just am running out of options and don't know what to do.. I also don't know if my headaches are related or if they are 2 seperate problems. The headaches started about 6 months before the other pains. I am only 24 and otherwise healthy, but sometimes I just wanna beat my head into the wall.....

HI
Yes an mri will show a herniated disc that is how they found mine. This took 7 years to get the mri for me.
I don't know yet if there is a cure for my problem, I am waiting to see a spine specialist. I have had my headaches now for 7 years and I have actually bet my head on the wall a few times.
Your headaches could be related as mine are, please don't leave it too long as it starts to take the quality out of your life.
Talk to your doc maybe about getting an mri of your spine to rule this out.
I hope you find some answers soon.

Re: upper back and neck pain with pressure headaches

I also get the upper back and neck pain with headaches. I have actually had it come back a couple of weeks ago. My doctor stated that I have myofascial disorder. My PT explained it as the skin of the muscles are really tight and does not allow the muscles to work correctly. I think that was an easy way for her to explain it to me for me to understand. Last time that it bothered me, I went to PT for a month and it got better for 5 months. She did a lot of massaging my neck and back. I would look into this. It sounds similar to your problems.
