I have had back pains for the past 2 years now, I don't even know what's wrong with it really, it's kinda hard to explain where the pain is too. The first time I had a pain was back when I was 14, I was sat at my computer playing a video game and all of a sudden I felt it in my back, at the time I didn't think much of it. But it kept getting worse, and about 10 or 15 minutes after it started to hurt A LOT. Like... I'm serious here this is the most EXCRUCIATING pain i ever felt in my entire life. Luckily it only got that bad once... I started screaming in pain and had to get my mom to bring me to my local doctor after 30 minutes of this agonizing pain. It wouldn't ease up at all. I got down there and after the doctor examined my back he told me I had an S shaped curve in my spine and he put me on medication for the pain and said to come back after so long. When I went back he he took a look at my spine again and this time he told me that I have a twist in my spine possibly from bad posture and that I needed to exercise it. I did them and the pain went away for a few months, but now its back and I'm doing the exercises but it doesn't seem to be stopping at all. But I know that it gets really bad when I'm out on my bmx or on quad or snowmobile, and the first time I was doing the exercises i wasnt riding anything like that at the time and when I started doing that stuff, it's been paining, so I'm not sure if they have anything to do with it really or not. Also when I try to sit up straighter I find that my back tends to hurt worse usually, and it's only when I sit up or lay down, if I'm standing I dont really find that it hurts so much. Any suggestions / opinions / comments greatly appreciated.

I can't give you any opinion of what is wrong with you, but I would suggest that your parents take you to see a pediatric orthopaedic specialist. My daughter is also 16 and has had to modify her activities because of her back condition. So a correct diagnosis may help and the dr would be able to tell you if you need to modify your activities. She had to quit water skiing and was unable to snowmobile this winter along with numerous other activities. Her dr and physical therapist were able to tell her what activities she needed to avoid for her condition.
I know it must be very frustrating for you as a 16 year old to be having this type of pain. My daughter is really frustrated by not being able to do the sports that she previously did.
Ouch. If i had to change my activities like that I think I'd go nuts, those things are what I live for.. that must be really bad for your daughter. What exactly is wrong with your daughter if you don't mind me asking?

My daughter was diagnosed five years ago with congenital spondylolisthesis (a slipped disc). Her condition has become worse and she has had to withdraw from all of her sports. That has only happened the past year and a half. Prior to that she continued to play soccer and volleyball, dance, water ski, run hurdles and high jump.
I would highly recommend getting your family doctor refering you to a orthopedic or neurologist. I'm 33 years old and I developed back pain at the age of 18. I went through the whole treatment family doctor , othopedic, neurolgist. I had CT and Bone scans along with electrical test and MRI. They all said muscle strain, and that it would go away. I did physical therapy and chiropractopr for 2 years, with no relief and for the next 7 years jusst lived with it and mild pain medicines. Finally I asked for another MRI after being in pain 9yrs and the new MRI showed 3 bulging dic and one that was ruptured. I guess someone didn't give the MRI or read it right the first time I had it. I had outpatient IDET procedure and much strong painer meds , where I get by ok now.
Thanks for the replies, I'm nagging on my parents to take me to the doctor again and try to get him to get me to see some specialist or something. Hopefully that all works out well.

I feel for you. I'm 33 and have been so mad about my back issues. I can't imagine being 16 and trying to handle it!
Has your doctor ordered actual X-rays or a CT? I can't imagine a simple exam being enough to tell them what the problem is, especially considering the level of pain you describe. I would think you need an Orthopedist or Neurologist to take a look. Good luck!
