Question Lower back knots

I have been having back pain for the last 6 months. I work out on a regular basis but I do not do anything that would cause me t have pain or tightness in my back. I have noticed with this pain I also have what feels to be knots in my back next to my spine. I have had them messaged and I have taken pain relievers but neither seems to help and lately the pain is getting much worse. I do like going to the doctor but I guess I may have to soon unless someone has any suggestions on what I can do to help this problem. If you have any ideas on what I can do to help or what may be causeing this problem please let me know.

Re: Lower back knots

Build up of synovial fluid around the joints.

nick name; Back mice

A PT says that given enough time, they can find them on everyone.

If they bother you enough, they can be removed in a doctor's visit with a needle.

It is the body's response to a problem with a joint being inflammed. The fluid builds up to protect the joint.

Re: Lower back knots

Sounds to me like you might have a "trigger point" knot in your back that's causing your pain. Thee knots generally feel very "tender" when touched...somewhat like an internal "boil". Message is good to "iron them out", but a visit or two to a massage therapist may not be sufficient. It would be like visiting a trainer at a gym every two weeks for an hour to get in shape. Now if you had a message therapist at your personal beck & call or could afford to visit a message therapist daily, it might be a different story.

I highly suggest that you get ahold of Clair Davies book on "Trigger Point Message Therapy" & follow his protocol. He instructs how to locate & then how to do self-massage on these "knots" to essentially dissapate them. When the knot is gone, the pain is gone.
