How Do You Know...
How do you know if you have permanent nerve damage?

I have been having sciatica issues for years, luckily not as bad as most people here seem to have. Anyway, reading some of these posts has me a little worried!

I have my first neurosurgeons appointment next week to get an opinion.

I had more MRI's then I can count 2 discograms and numerous test, procedures ect, and only a "EMG" showed the damage to my S1 nerve and it took so long to find that now that damage is permanant.
I'm assumming you have had MRI's ect. I would most certainly ask the NS for an EMG and that test is one that doesn't give false neg. or pos.
