why fusion ,ADR, etc, cant these docs just

ream out the opening from which the nerves exit and let that be it?
If the disc has deteriorated and there is a loss of height so the nerve is compromised why not just ream out the opening a bit so the nerve is not crunched anymore,,
it seems so simple,,
but what do I know??

Because there isn't much room...one little nick in the nerve and you don't walk anymore.

As jaydar said, there isn't much room.

That, and the fact that the "hole" that the nerve comes out of is not just filled with the nerve. It is filled with fat, blood vessels, and other components. If you have ever seen the inside of the human body, everything has its place and is so organized and built so well that to ream it out would be like taking a drill to your ear. You would certainly make a larger hole, but the results probably wouldn't be the best!

Hope that helps a bit!
