Re: does anyone know what disc being injured could cause numbness in your mouth?
The Hypoglossal nerve controls the muscles leading to the tongue. It is one of the cranial nerves (nerves that come from the base of the brain, not connected to any of the disks, per se). There are other cranial nerves that control sensation to the mouth, tongue, lips, etc. You can find cranial nerve maps and explanations if you google "cranial nerve" and "tongue". Good luck - Mary
