That question is best directed at your body. Unfortunately, what works for one does not for another.

Such as both of those make me very ill.

You will have to continue to work with your doctor to finding good medications that fit your needs.

Re: Meds for back pain

Hi! Everyone's body responds differently, but I have preferred Ultram for my back pain over darvocet or vicoden. Darvocet made me feel more out of it, and it slowed my breathing. Vicoden made my stomach sick. Ultram cuts my pain and I do not feel loopy. But, do check with your doctor. Take care, Kera4

Yep.. Darvocet makes me feel out of it too. I was taking the Ultram but it was not doing any good for the pain so i called the doctor and he called in Darvocet.
I might just cut the Darvocet in half and try it that way. I wish he would have called in some Percacets.

Re: Meds for back pain

I tried both separately and neither did the job. Ultram was probably better. Now I just take a Percocet when needed.

Re: Meds for back pain

I have a system for the medications. I have had back problems for at least 10 years so I have learned to manage the pain like this. Ultracet/Ultram I use for pain levels 1-4. When the pain is worse 5-7 2 Darvocet(side affects are bad, but the pain is worse) 7+ Percocet. It seems to work for me. I have tried all the other pain meds, but my body didn't agree with them. You do have to work it out by trial and error. Hate to say it but you need a stool softener with percocet or darvocet
