Is there a designation for Pain Management Doctor in the USA. I have a pain management doctor here in Canada but he is a Neurologist and director of a large pain management centre. All the pain management doctors are Neurologists.

I have a NeuroSurgeon, General Practioner and a Pain Managament Specialist. So I think the answer to your question is yes. I'm in the Deep South.
I have a doctor who i go for for medication.
A consultant i see every 4 months to talk about what can be done next.
A physiotherapist who i am doing spinal excercise classes with.
A surgeon who does the back injections an such.
So many people to see!
It certainly keeps me busy going to all my appointments.
Hi,
I'm new to PM dr.'s, I see my first one on march 1. My PM is a spine surgeon/PM, showed my spine surgeon the PM's bio, he said he had never seen a spine surgeon that was a pm too, he felt that was a plus too.
Keep your fingers crossed for me please?
God Bless
Carol

I do like the fact that my PM is a Neurologist. He has said no surgery and I accept that probably more so because he is a Neurologist. I am sure that he would recommend surgery if he thought it might help. On the other hand he has no vested interest in a surgical approach. I truly feel he just wants to do whats best for me and who better to assess nerve involvement and damage than a neurologist.
