SI Joint Pain

Does anyone out there (I'm a 41 year old female) had SI joint pain and glute pain?

I've had x-rays done and was told I have "mild arthritic changes" and to take aleve - I've also had lots of massage and it feels great for a day or so after. I've also been to a physiatrist who diagnosed me with hip bursitis (my hips are tender when poked and prodded) and he suggested physical therapy - I went to a couple of pt visits and was shown exercises which I do at home -

just curious - thanks for any input!

Re: SI Joint Pain

Dear Supermom, Hi! I have sacroiliac pain as well as arthritis in these joints. I have received injections from my physiatrist which have helped, but they do not last more that 5 or 6 weeks for me. I have also been helped by PT, and they taught me stretches and strengthening exercises for this area. All the core stomach exercises are good for supporting this area. Another thing I do is sit on a wedge shaped pillow. I find that hard chairs really aggravate my SI joint, so I carry the wedge if I have to sit a while. I ice the area if it is super bad, and I do have a TENS machine (like they use in PT). Hope that helps! Take care, Kera4

Re: SI Joint Pain

[COLOR="Navy"]Supermom,

I have SI pain, primarily on my left side. I saw my surgeon last week and he told me that he could fuse that joint solid..but with the history I've had, I'm done with his opening me up again for anything.

My surgeon suggested an anti inflametory to help get that join "settled down". I have started on flexeril three times a day. We'll see.

My PT also works that area over seeing I am having a "flare up". The messy weather has had a lot to do with it.
