Dear board buddies, i have posted about my back pain in the past and wondering if anyone has experienced the numbness and should i be worried? A little recap. I was in a car accident three years ago, continued to have back problems after and got worse with hip buttock and leg pain. I am getting referred again to a spine specialist as the last Nuerogeon just brushed me aside. In the mean time i had fallen on the ice, had an even weaker leg and now i get alot of numbness in my foot all the way up my leg at times and alot of the time i get numbness over my body. Can anyone relate?
Yes I can relate to your pain. I was not in a car accident but I did have intense pain, numbness, weakness effecting my entire left side from the hip down. I had a bulging disc (L4) and severly herneiated disc L5 S1. I have had a micro d and just recently had to have a laminectomy. You didnt state if you have had an MRI or any other tests done? And with the fall on the ice you could have really knocked around an already irritated situation. Just know you are not alone. Hope you find relief soon!!!!
Well hopefully you just flared things up a tad and did not do anything more back there. The spine specialist will better be able to tell you that.
I am a lumbar fusion patient, and I have numbing and tingling that travels all over the place.
Remember.. regardless of where your spine issue is.. the whole kit-n-kaboodle is effected in one way or another. It's a chain.. it's all hooked together. Therefore, it's not uncommon to have some referred pains appear just about anywhere.
Shoot, after the fusion was done.. and for months.. I had what I call a "buzz" type feeling on top of my scalp and then it itched, but it was an itch that I could not relieve. Then it would just go away, come back.. go away again and again. Odd eh? It's obviously the nerves that are the cause.
Hang in there.. and if get any worse or your pain management gets increasingly difficult, i would see if the new doc can speed up your appointment by calling them and explaining everything, or make a trip to the ER.
hang in there.

Tanks gang for all of your replies! I have had an MRI done in the past wich didn't really show anything and a nerve test it was the EMG i believe, and that came back fine but all this was at least six months ago, so i wait and see and i should have an appt. soon.
