Re: having a l4-5 plif l3-s1 pltpf i 1 week anyone have this

Welcome I had plif 14-s1 on Feb 26th. I really am not sure what pltfp is.

I am not one of the smarter ones on here but can tell you there is alot of experience here and I am sure someone will have your answers soon

Good luck I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers

Re: having a l4-5 plif l3-s1 pltpf i 1 week anyone have this

and welcome!

I have had the s1/s2 and l5/s1 posterior fusion. The s1/s2 was done 23 years ago and I am not out 5 weeks from the l5/s1.

My recommendation is to read the thread at the top of this entitled post surgery tips and that will help you tremendously.

If you have any specific questions please post, and I will take a stab at answering if I can for you. Well wishes are being sent your way for a smooth recovery.

My layman term understanding is the plif is a fusion done in the back and the pltpf is done abdominally and posterior for patients with a high degree of spinal instability such as from fractures or in revision surgery (if the initial fusion did not set up).

Re: having a l4-5 plif l3-s1 pltpf i 1 week anyone have this

Hi,
The plif is posterior lumbar interbody fusion, I'm not sure what the plftp is. The plif is approached through the back. My daughter had a tlif, which was a transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion. With her surgery there was an incision on the back, but the drs approached the procedure from the sides of the spine. Make sure you ask lots of questions of your dr so that you know exactly what to expect during your surgery and recovery. I asked so many that her dr was always ready for me to begin my list. Best wishes. cas

On my recent fusion they were going to put in the cages but aborted that portion of the surgery when they realized that my vertebrae opening was to small and it would put me at risk of further damage.

I pray your surgery goes well for you.
