I am currently seeing a PT for lower back pain which is very helpful, however I work from a home office and sit at my desk on the computer for at least 8 hours a day. I need to get a more supportive chair. It is getting to the point where I feel I am un-doing all of the progress I am making in therapy. Also, the amount of time I can sit at my desk in a single stretch is quickly diminishing.
Can anyone recommend a good office chair? I consistently hear people talk about the Herman Miller chairs but they are so expensive...has anyone had a positive experience with a less expensive chair?
Agreed with Sherry. And also can add: if you can get Staples catalog, they have excellent back support devices which you can put behind your back right in any of your chairs. They are created specially for people who spend much time in a office sitting down. I used to have one at work, it was my life saver! They have different kind, just look and see which one would be better for you.
[COLOR="Navy"]I have a Herman Miller chair at work and it does give me the support I need. The only way you are going to get what you need is to go to the store and sit in one until you find one that is right for you. I would take a book along. When I say sit I mean sit. You need to spend 20 minutes sitting in it to see if you can be comfortable it in. Adjust it to see if you like the way it conforms to your body. That's the only way you will find one that will be just right for you.
And let's face it. If you work from home you shouldn't be concerned about the cost. This will be a deduction for you. This is something that is extremely important to your back. Spend the money and get what you need to support your back.
