this is a question for my spouce. He is 45 and has had upper back pain between his shoulder expecially on the left side.(he was a drywall hanger for many years) He has had it for several years and now it is getting worse. When you rub between his left shoulder blade and spine ther is a fatty mass of something that moves around. It is probally the size of a quarter. Now his left arm is getting numb. He has has some therapy, but, it has not helped. He will be having a mri soon. My question is: Would this be a pinched nerve? Tumor? What are your suggestions about this problem....
I wonder if it could be his Rotator Cuff. I think repetitive work like he did can cause it. Let us know. You don't realize how everything is connected. My elbow is swollen and my hand tingles. We thought Tendonitis but they think it could be the pinched nerve I have in my neck. You don't realize how everything is connected.
My girlfriend is the taylor and she has the same symptoms, very severe from seating in one position for long hours and using the same muscles for years.
She got a lot of systs in that area, they are nothing to worry about, but Doctors say that this is usualy a result of inflammation. They sent her for PT for 3 month and for a while on anti-unflammatory meds - she is doing wery well now. Every day stretches and some excercise.
Good luck to him!
I have the same sort of pain myself in my left shoulder. Seems normally to be in the muscle between my blade and spine. It tends to come and go..some months feels really tight and swollen and hurts like the dickens. I've tried stretching and everything but that didn't work very well. What I did is they offer a chair massage where I work and a massage therapist comes in a few times a month. For $15 for 15 minutes (I opt for 30 minutes) I can get a very nice relaxing massage (ever heard the term it hurts so good..lol). It hurts like heck at first but then the muscle relaxes. My back started hurting about a month ago just before my August vacation and I booked an appointment. I was not in pain the entire time of my vacation. Now the pain is back of course...I did have a massage yesterday but it still hurts so far. Took a few days before for it take full effect. I also see a chiropractor for regular adjustments too which does help. Try alternating 20 minutes of heat and 20 minutes of a cold compress too.
