I have a 23 yr old daughter who was born with spinal cord damage, manifesting itself when she was 4, and getting worse each day. She has had over 20 operations on her lower back, kidneys bowels, which have all been effective. her pain is ususally 7-9 on 1-10 pain level. Morphine, methadoe oxicodone, vicotin all used, antidepressents, etc, etc, etc. Looking for a PAIN MANAGEMENT DOC THAT uses meds, understanding of severe chronic pain, PT, counsiling, biofeedback... WHATEVEVER to help. Started at Riley Childrens hospital, now been at IU Med Ctr Pain clinic. Has baclofin pump which includes prialt and baclofin. Has spinal cord stimulator. In so much pain, is getting to the point where there is no hope, and thoughts of suicide slip in. We are Christians and she knows this is not an option, but where else is releif??????????????? ANYBODY OUT THERE FIND HELP NEAR INDY WITH PAIN MANAGEMENT. CURRENT DOC IS JUST AS DISCOURAGED, LOOKING FOR A SECOND OPINION, BUT WHERE DO WE GO????? Surely Indy is big enough a city to have SOMETHING OUT THERE TO HELP! Would appreciate any help! frustrated. She is only child, kills my heart to stay with her and see her so miserable.
Hi I am in Lafayette, In and I go to advanced Pain Management and see Doctor Caroline Kochert and she has helped me a lot. I did see a nuero in Indy and the also have pain management. The name of that group is Indiana neurological group ( ING) Hope this helps!

Hi, and welcome to the board. I don't have any specific recommendations for you but just wanted to welcome you and let you know how sorry I am about your daughters condition. I can only advise you to keep trying one pain management specialist after another until you find the right one for her. I wonder if prialt is the right medication; has others been tried? Just wondering if morphine, dilaudid, or fentanyl would work better.
Don't give up; there are doctors out there with kind hearts as well as advanced knowledge and who might have some ideas to help her. I'm sure she has had all the standard stuff....injections, etc. Does she have any SI joint pain, or has she been tested to see if she does? A procedure called Neuroablation might help if she does. I'm just babbling, trying to come up with something, so I'll close for now.
I pray that she will soon find the doctor she needs.
