I sustained a hematoma May 4th after falling down the stairs. I have been to the ER twice, 3 orthopedics and 2 PCP's. I have basically been told that there is nothing I can do
Are you having spine pain due to this fall? Has the hematoma diminished any? When they say there is nothing they can do, what does that mean exactly? I mean about bruise, about your pain, ??

A Success, but still improving!
It takes a while to go away. The first week in September I got hit in the calf with a baseball. It was a foul ball and I could not move fast enough. I got a bruise that was the size of two baseballs together. It still hurts. It is going on 8 weeks. I still have a small lump under the skin. The dr. said it was a Hematoma and there is nothing I can do about it. Yours is in a rough spot though. I assume sitting hurts. It was scary to look at it. The bruise was five differents colors. My calf still looks swollen. So I think you are in for a long haul. I would just see the dr. if it doesn't go away in time. Hope you feel better.
I fell down the stairs in May (9 months ago!!) and landed on my left buttock and had a huge bruise, that took a couple of weeks to disappear. The area was quite swollen and there was quite a large raised area, that I assumed was just part of the bruise, but it's still there! It's about the width of an orange, and sticks out maybe 3/4 of an inch. I think it must be a hematoma, from what you guys are all saying, but will it ever go away?? It's not painful anymore, but a bit uncomfortable, it just feels kinda more solid than the rest of the skin round it. The thing I hate most is that you can see it through some of my clothes, especially lighter trousers and skirts - it sticks out! Is there anything tht can be done to reduce it? Will it ever go away?
Any advice appreciated! Thanks!
