Re: what can be done about a bulging disc in lower back

Good question Dustilane. I recently had a MRI-found 4 bulging disc & 1 fused together. On vicodine, muscle relaxers & anti-inflamitory meds. Dr says physical therapie or pain management would be next step. Feels like constantly being hit with a baseball bat. Constant bad pressure sitting, laying or standing. Any thing other your Dr suggests? Wezey27

Re: what can be done about a bulging disc in lower back

I have been seeing a chiropractor. I started because of neck pains and then the lower back started giving me problems. He sent me to have a MRI and found a bulging disc at L4. He has suggested continuing treatments, possibly steroid injections, and as a last resort surgery. Surgery will be my absolute last resort. I have asked the ladies prayer group at my church to put me on the prayer list. I am going to continue my chiropractor treatments and start a walking program......

Hey Dusti,
Have you seen an ortho or neurosurgeon about the results of your MRI? I think you will find that most of us on this board are a little nervous about chiros until you have been evaluated by a spine specialist. You don't want to do any more damage. Most doctors are very conservative unless you are having nerve pain down your leg, loss of function, etc. Most will order physical therapy.....steroid injections....possibly steroids by mouth. Surgery is usually a last resort. Welcome to the boardThere are some awesome people on here and you will find lots of support. Good luck and keep us updated.

No, just been going to a chiro....I have used them for years, so I feel very comfortable with them....My chiro told me this morning that if I wanted to see a doctor about the MRI, he would give me some names. He said that how I proceeded would be up to me. He is not ruling out me seeing a neurosurgeon.
