Re: what to do for pulled neck muscle
great advice choc. the thing here is, you do not know for certain whether this IS indeed a 'pulled" or overly strained muscle, or a possible symptom of an underlying problem, you know what i mean? i would just for now,do what choc suggested. using the anti inflammatories is always a good thing to see if it responds to. if this is 'just" a pull or strain of some kind, the advil or aleeve(my personal favorite only because it lasts longer)will probably at least make you feel a reduction in pain and in some cases, the overall intensity in the muscle itself. if this does not get better in the next few days to a week, you really do need to see your doc about it and have this a bit further investigated. and MRI would really be a good thing if things should happen to get worse or there is simply no real change in what is is you are feeling. just try not to overly use that muscle too much or it could go into a much deeper spasm.
one other thing that just helps with all my upper muscle damage is just soaking in a tub with a cup of epsom salts added? this is just pure granulated magnesium, natures own little muscle relaxer. soaking in this will actually cause it to become absorbed directly into the skin and muscle areas too. you just have to get that affected area under the water. hopefully the muscle in question is not sitting too high? but this really does help in just relaxing all the muscles to a cartain degree. i have to do this before bed in order to keep my spasticity down from spinal cord injury, it does help. just see how things go and go from there. i do hope this will just go away soon for you, but if not, you know what to do. please keep us posted.
