Err on the side of caution and see if you can get examinations from back, pain, and neurology specialists.
Your MRI sounds like mine... slight extrusion at L5-S1. Anyways they put me on a course of physical therapy, which ended up exacerbating my Myofascial damage and "setting back my recovery by perhaps years" according to the Pain Specialist that correctly diagnosed my condition.
Now after living on pain meds for 3 yrs 9 months, going through acupuncture, DNFT chiropractic, psychologist counseling, countless Trigger Point Injections, 9 Basal Branch Nerve Blocks and 4 Radio Frequency Ablations. I'm finally at a point where I have just barely started physical therapy again... this time though great care is being taken not to damage my myofascia any further.
