Are there other Chronic Pain Patieints on this board who had Back Fusions/Laminectomies done years ago but it did not take away the pain, but seem to only be dealing with chronic pain that will not go away? If so, I would really like to talk with you.
I am a 45 yr. old widowed lady who works Part-time with really bad back pain in the lower back area - L3-L5. Although I went through lots of conservative care for years prior to my Fusion in 2000, none of them helped much or not enough with the pain. It got to the point after having supposedly the best care by some of the best DO's, orthopedic drs., pain management doctors through my insurance along with ALL the diagnostic tests, etc. and so called "Conservative Care" such as 3 attempts at PT programs, 6 ESI's, a nerve block, and ongoing "back stabilization exercises", chiropractors, that I have been Methadone Pain Medication that only decreases the pain since 2003 and this has been the only medication that at least eases the pain where I am at least somewhat a functional person. Of course, I have no insurance since my husband died in 2004, so I feel trapped since I know that my body is sooooooo dependent on this pain medicine but my Pain Mgmt dr. tells me I really have no other options without insurance.
Anyone else dealing with this?
