Re: Thing in neck keeps popping out - HELP please!!!
Hi Lorienelf: Welcome to the boards. Nice to have you as a part of us, but I am sorry you are having to be here, looking for answers to your pain. I can give you my best guess, as it sounds similar to my symptoms. It could be a disk bulge moving in and out. I had disk No. C5-6 totally blow out (the jelly center blew--mine was not just a disk bulge) and when it blew, I actually felt something "mush" in the back of my neck. Then, my throat felt like I was getting slightly strangled from the inside out (internally--if that makes any sense). If you are totally unable to swallow, that is the time to go to the E.R. The only way your doctor can tell if this is truly a disk is to run an MRI (xray to show soft tissue). They usually do a regular bone xray to check the placement of your vertebre. If that xray looks out of sorts, then they do an MRI. Just understand that disk bulges DO move in and out. And this may NOT be your problem; I am only a spinal sufferer with degenerating spinal disks and spinal arthritis; I am no doctor. Re. neck sensitivity, I cannot hardly touch my neck either. It is very inflammed. I can look at my spine in the mirror and see swollen areas along my spine and these areas, for me, are the problematic ones. I have about 10 disk bulges throughout my back; I am a 53 yr. old woman who did a lot of heavy work and 13 years of sitting in an office, and I am small boned, so I probably should not have done all the lifting I did. Anyway, I hope this helps, and good luck to you. Take care, PatG
