Re: Anyone have radiofrequency neurotomy, how long does pain last afterward?
Hi, and welcome to the board. I have never had this procedure on the cervical area, but have had it done 3 times in the lumbar region. It was always quite successful in lowering my pain, and I never had more pain following the procedure.
I noticed that you are seeing a neurologist; I also noted that you no longer have insurance, which is such a huge problem in this country. Ideally, you should see either an orthopedic spine specialist or a neurosurgeon with a fellowship, who devoted their practice to the neck and spine only. Since the procedure didn't help you, there is the possibility that the area is not the main pain generator and that's why you continue to have pain.
If you have not had an MRI, you do need one in order to get clear imaging. An x-ray simply will not show any nerve impingement and may not pick up on herniated disc, etc. A spine specialist is going to read the MRI or other studies and be able to find out what is going on that is causing your pain.
I do hope you will continue to post. Perhaps others here will have more ideas.
