Question Is Physiotherapy effective in reducing low back pain?

Hello forum,

I am a prospective Physiotherapy student. For my Independent Research Project, i am investigating whether Physiotherapy is effective in reducing low back pain.

I would very much appreciate your opinions, but above all experience with regards to the topic. When commenting please state -
how long you've suffered with back ache
how long you've had physiotherapy treatment
what effects physiotherapy has had on your condition
whether physiotherapy is your prefared choice of treatment
what type of physiotherapy techniques have been implemented on your condition e.g. massage, manipulation etc
whether you think physiotherapy is the best treatment for low back pain
and any other information that maybe helpful..

Thank you!

Creed, you have been underwhelmed! If you have read the boards here you will see some if not most have not done well, many with failed surgery. I should think it best if you read papers of evidence based trials and similar, it will be more usefull to you. Google (james Cyriax),(Di Tigny), (Critical appraisal and comments on "physiotherapy briefings for physicians. Low back pain study sparks discussions". From the latter you will see more. Also google rehabedge physiotherapy, lots of papers mentioned and much interesting discussion.
