I think you are in progress and hopefully the Doc will have answers. MRIs aren't always conclusive with back pain so DO keep after the Doc even if it doesn't reveal anything. Sadly, the source of back pain can take a while to track down....it is a notoriously hard thing to diagnose. I'm afraid I don't have much truly helpful....just keep at it. Pain radiating down the leg can def have a spine source....mine hit glute, hip, and leg at points (all same side).
If you don't get an answer, try another doc. Specialists are really key in back-land....seek out someone who really makes spines their expertise. I've seen both orthopedics and neurosurgeons who do...and also tried a physiatrist w/ a spine focus...I needed more treatment than he could offer but it was a worthwhile stop,
Definitely keep trying if the first doc can't find an answer. It took me 6 years to get some relief! My current doc, which is a pain management doc, has already diagnosed and treated me or Facet Joint Syndrome. I have had major relief from the RF Ablation treatment my doc did for that. Still have to check out a couple other possible issues, as I still have some issues . . . no where near the pain level I was at before though. I have been able to increase my activity level quite a bit after the first couple of weeks after the RF Ablation, and have even been able to do some exercises again, do laundry easily, and many other things without pain. Sitting and driving are still a bit of a problem, so I'll talk to the doc about that next week when I go see him for a follow up.
Good luck with finding the answers, and keep pushing! Back pain is one of the most difficult things to find an answer for.
