Unhappy Fusion recovery

Hi. I had a 360 fusion L4-S1 about 9 weeks ago. Recovery was going so well...back pain was almost gone just has a lot of hip and leg pain..About a week ago I woke up with a major increase in leg pain....not the normal burning/ tingling but like deep ache in both legs( before surgery it was only my left leg)..now the back pain came back...I know its only been 9 weeks but when I had the surgery my Dr. made it sound like I'd be all better by 3mths...Is it normal for the pain to increase? Could it just be a flare up?

Re: Fusion recovery

Hi -- I am a little over five months post-op. Your returning leg pain is similar to what I experienced. My leg pain totally went away for about six weeks after surgery, then came FLOODING back. It felt worse than before surgery, and I was ready to rip off my legs. Fortunately, I was talked out of doing so. Nowte leg pain is not as bad as when it came back, and I hope that the nerves will continue to heal. My surgeon thinks that my leg pain is unlikely to resolve in the way that was hoped, but I am trying to keep the faith.

I found that I have had lots of muscle pain in the back, much more than before surgery, due to changes in posture and new muscles taking on new roles.

I would ask for an appointment with your surgeon to make sure that everything is okay and that your hardware is where it needs to be. I ended up with a complication from surgery, which I am working on addressing now.
