Can I walk without my back brace?

I was in a car accident and broke my T12,L3 and L4. It happened over a month ago. I was put in a clamshell back brace and was told to wear it for 2 - 3 months. I follow all my doctors orders and am fully out of pain. I have a wedding that I am going to in a week and I am a bridesmaid. I really wanted to wear the dress but now I do not know if I can because of my brace. It is really important to me and I was wondering if I could take off my back brace for about two hours max then put it right back on for the rest of the night. On the daye of the wedding, i would have been wearing the brace for one month and 2 weeks. I would be extremely careful to make sure nothing goes wrong and to make sure I dont do anything that could harm me. I would be sitting for most of the time but just really wanted to know if I could pull off taking the brace off for 2 hours if I really really wanted too? I am not going to the doctor for another 2 weeks so please help!! Thx.

Re: Can I walk without my back brace?

You would be wise to call the office and ask. Maybe just for a few hours they could use that Kinesio tape. It would be thin enough that it could hopefully fit under the dress without anyone knowing...and it would provide some support and remind you not to bend or twist.

I haven't used it on my back, but have used it on a wrist and it was very supportive. It would be a workable alternative if the doctor won't let you go completely without the support of the brace.
