When back pain comes out of nowhere (no injury, etc)
It feels like I was in a car crash or something. But, I wasn't. I haven't done anything to pull a muscle or anything, either.
This pain just came out of nowhere a few weeks ago and it's only getting worse. It's on my left side, below my shoulder blade. I can feel it when I take a deep breath as if my lung is pushing on whatever is hurt.
How does this happen? So much pain, but didn't do anything to cause it ...
Re: When back pain comes out of nowhere (no injury, etc)
Hi josie, Muscle spasms are extremely painful to me & have happened in the area i think you are describing from sleeping with my head tucked, got too cold during night or slept with new pillow. Also, normal wear & tear, repetitive movements can cause problems with discs, nerve roots in my opinion. Have you seen the dr? If so what did he say? If not there are things you can do hot bath, heating pad, ice or cold gel pack but only until dr appt. If pain is really severe, like not relieved by OTC medicine, or if your lung hurts i would go to ER so to see if its pleurisy etc. Im so sorry. I know pain too well. Have you ever looked at a dermatome map. They are easy to look up & easy to understand & may give you some info. Please update your progress or post if you need an ear. Thank you, gmak
Re: When back pain comes out of nowhere (no injury, etc)
Thanks Gmak! I think I do have to assume it's from sleeping .... or maybe from how I sit or something. I put off a doctor appointment because I really just thought I had a pulled muscle or something else that just needed stretching or something and it would go away. *sigh* I know I need to go in now though.

Hi josie, I understand the sigh because sometimes i dont feel good enough to go to the dr! But, you realize it is necessary so they can do tests to see if it is something serious or not & they can order the right treatment. I would call when they open & say that you cant wait until january! Lol
