Spinal athritis/ facet syndrome

I have had l4/L5 disc surgery in Feb 2011. The disc fragmented into my L5 motor nerve and caused foot drop. I still have a residual posterior disc bulge but apparently according to my physio that is not my cause of pain. I had an MRI done a year ago that noted severe facet arthritis from L4-S1.

I am physically fit and exercise regularly but no matter what I do I am in pain. When my physio presses on the facet joints she can mimic the pain I have in my legs. I have achy legs, and also mild left sciatica, and a sore sacrum. I am on voltaren daily and it's manageable now. But I am only 40 and am wondering how this will progress. Heat makes joint pain worse.

Does anyone else have facet syndrome/spinal arthritis? What works??

Thank you
