Angry Rhizotomy

I had a Rhizotomy done on Jan.10th on the right side of my lower back and I have more pain now that I did before the procedure, did anyone else get worse after the procedure ? I too have had the pain meds but IT ISN'T TAKING ANY PAIN AWAY @ ALL in fact I AM IN MORE PAIN N O W they keep changing the pain meds but as of today I have no relief what so even, my bp was 168/100 it's never been that high before that's because of the pain I'm in and no matter what I try I can't get any relief what so ever..nothing's changed @ all....now I'm on fentanyl patches they have tried morphing, and opana, percocet and now this and still no relief....I just don't know now what to do I trusted the dr.s that they knew what they were doing ...I was led to believe I'd have instant relief then after my complaints their stories changed then they told me it could take a wk up to 3 wks to see a difference.....and after this last appointment now they said IT DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK ? ? ? I am upset over all of this mess.......

Re: Rhizotomy

Welcome to the board. I'm sorry you are having so much pain as a result of your procedure.

Please elaborate on why you had the rhizotomy done (why is the nerve or nerves compressed?), at what level it was done, and are you to have a follow-up procedure?

Are you using ice for pain? I've found that when opioids do not touch pain, ice will help. You can ice for 15-20 minutes per hour, round the clock if needed, being careful to protect the skin.
