Iron it! I'm not kidding. I have only dreamt of straight hair all of my life. Every morning for I can't tell you how many years (I'm over 50) I have to wet, gel and difuse it to keep it tame. I've never got up and just gone (except) with a messy pony tail. I don't have to tell you about the static friz. Last week I went to the hair dressers for my normal little trim (shoulder length) and she ironed it with a straighter (the same cost as just any style) . I just love it! It was done Thursday and it is now Monday. I have done nothing to it. If I shake my head back and forth it's just like the models on television, so smooth. Of course once I wash it, or it gets steamed, or rain or snow it's gone. I went out and bought a Conair one for $25.00 cdn.. It must have ceramic coating as this also treats your hair. It is so smooth and silky! Some people had problems recognizing me. I've been told by a couple that I look 10 years younger! Also you know you can get it permanently (til it grows in) straightened also. If you go this route you can still curl it if you wish or just wash and go and it stays straight. (Just like Jennifer Astins). Just using the straightener I will wash it less often and get up and go 4 or 5 days out of 7!!!! I tried a sweater on in the store and I don't have to tell you all what that does to frizzy hair, well it did not!!! Just wanted to share this with everyone who has hair like mine. Works for me also except I have greasy hair so I have to wash it every day which sux lol.

But it is highly damaging, it looks good now, but in the long run it can greatly ruin your hair if you don't protect it, worse than using a blow dryer. Make sure to use lot's of deep conditioners often. And be careful going too long without washing your hair, at least wash the scalp more often than every 4 or more days or you can develop a fungal infection. I just don't want you to lose your pretty hair.

Many products such as gels and straightening balms and creams have built in heat protectants. I've been straightening my hair for over 10 years and I swear by Paul Mitchell Heat Seal. It's an extremely lightweight spray that does a great job at protecting the hair from heat damage. It's one of my best selling products because I tell my curly/frizzy haired clients I use it, and they see and feel the condition of my hair.

I have one of those too, but it falls out of my hair after an hour no matter what styling product I use. I've just learned to live with having very curly hair. I wear it very long to pull out some of the curl. When I wash it, I just detangle it with a huge-toothed comb and let it go. I rarely got a hair complement when I fought nature, but I get them every day since I since I just let it go.
